If you were involved in a movie, would you rather be the director, the producer, or the lead performer? (Note: you can’t be the writer!).
I have participated in a movie and I got an actor to play me. I collaborated with the text. And I had a super awesome director. As for the production side of it that kind of came together on it’s own. It was all about me and how I interact (or malfunction) with my environment.
I suppose if I had to choose, I might try be a producer as I know I could fit people into all those jobs behind the scenes and in front of the camera as well. But I might get fed up with trying to make sure people are at the right place at the right time, and have trouble with the money side of things. So on second thoughts maybe not.
I have directed/done the camera work/edited and acted as interviewer in a documentary on the arts too. That was fun, because it was spontaneous and I got to interview a load of different people, learnt the ropes of how to cut and paste film, played around with the camera and lighting, and had the final say on things.
On the whole making I find making films is challenging, and having it screened is something else too, the best and the worst.
